Situated immediately southwest of Minneapolis, Edina is known for its great schools and upper bracket homes. The Country Club neighborhood, established in the 1900s, is full of brick colonials and two and one-half story craftsman Tudors, while Indian Hills boasts more contemporary homes. Between the neighborhoods, one finds both modest and large homes, built from the ?20s to the present in a wide price range.
Edina has several retail shopping centers, including Southdale Center, the first climate-controlled, fully enclosed mall in the United States. It also has two tournament caliber private golf clubs, a public course at Braemar Park, the public Southdale Pool is busy all summer long. The city also boasts a thriving downtown area at 50th Street and France, with movie theaters and French, Italian and Asian Contemporary restaurants.
